♥ Valentine's Day ♥

I've never really celebrated Valentine's Day. It's just yet another money making scheme to get as much off of consumers as physically possible. I mean if I had had a reason to, I probably would...but until now I haven't [It's never really been a day for singletons has it, haha!] Anyway, my first memory of Valentine's was in year 4, when I had a huge crush on a boy in my class. So I made him a card and snuck in early to slip it into his tray; my mum and my teacher both thought it was really sweet, but he didn't. The romantic sense of mystery was somewhat ruined when he was embarrassed at receiving it. In all fairness I hadn't signed it with my name, just a question mark [as with tradition] and we were only young. Anyway, the chain of events were as follows: he told his best friend-his best friend told his whole group of friends-his group each told someone they knew-before long, the whole year group knew. And when children of that age get involved, they become determined to find out who gave it. Looking back now, I probably should have come clean but no...when each of the girls were interrogated about it we ALL denied sending it (I thought it would keep it a nice mystery), well all but one girl. Of course, it would be the girl who he really fancied, so he was ecstatic. However, they later found out who really sent it, and my already pretty poor reputation plummeted even further into the abyss.

ANYWAY! This is meant to be a happy blog post so I will continue with what I had meant to start with. I have never really celebrated Valentine's Day, yet this year I have had reason to; as my first Valentine's ever and our first Valentine's together [ooh that rhymes!], my boyfriend decided to make it extra special. After being greeted at college with a wonderful box of chocolates and card, I went round his and he cooked a lovely meal from scratch (Cannelloni, the first time I hadn't had it out of a box). When I went into the kitchen, the lights were dimmed and it was beautiful. There were white roses in a vase on the table, heart shaped confetti, candles and music playing in the background...actually gorgeous. We had a lovely starter (stuffed cherry tomatoes and salad?) followed by the Cannelloni, and a fruit salad selection with chocolate mousse and cream for dessert. The meal was amazing, but I think the best thing about it was being able to spend the whole evening with the person I love [apparently I'm all cheesy and gooey now!] :D x

So yeah, in conclusion, it was the most amazing evening of my life so far. I'm thinking I have definitely been pulled into this mass money making scheme and I'm pretty happy to be a part of it all. Hopefully I will have a reason to celebrate it next year, and the year after, and the year after...etc :) xxx
