In all fairness, it's not often that members of the royal family get married (although I'm sure Camilla and Charles weren't too long ago...or daren't I speak of them?) so I can see why everyone is excited, I am thankful however, for our bank holiday in aid of it all :)
Anyway, I don't object to the celebrations but some of the memorabilia is somewhat 'tacky', I mean if anyone designed things like the following for my wedding, I would die of embarrassment:

Mind you, with all this talk of street parties (I feel deprived, I've never experienced a street party), and royal cupcakes and bunting, I am beginning to be pulled into this excitement. There are so many royal cupcakes and wedding cakes I have seen, I really want to try it myself. Not to mention, as well as the vile merchandise, it has also reinforced the patriarchal trend which has been sweeping the country for a while now so there are lots of pretty, union jack things available :)
For my tea party...I bet mine won't look like these:
