Last week we had a welcome meeting at our student accommodation. Yes, we have lived here for over two months now. This probably explains why there was such a poor turn out; there was a meeting per block [our flats are made up of five blocks: A,B,C,D and E], so for each meeting they expected roughly one hundred people. Let’s put it this way, the one I went to only had about fifteen people. They made sandwiches for everybody which meant that there were a lot left over, so they let us take some back to the flat. Unfortunately my flatmate took full advantage of this, and filled up his wok with sandwiches. This would have been fine if they hadn’t been left there for three days, luckily they didn’t quite go mouldy, but I have decided that if people are going to be disgusting I am not cleaning up after them.
Anyway, it was all thrown away by yesterday, so that was good. The kitchen was immaculate too :) Why? I hear you ask… Well, yesterday we had an inspection. We have three inspections over the duration of us living here, in order to make sure we haven’t damaged it or made anything so disgustingly filthy that they would have to buy new appliances. It went pretty well actually, as on Monday afternoon, two of my flatmates had blitzed the kitchen with Cilit Bang etc. The one thing the people commented on was that the oven was dirty, and apparently so was the microwave – they should have seen it before it was cleaned! My room was “perfectly clean” :) heehee, good thing they weren’t looking for dust!
I have an ASDA delivery coming today, I thought I would try it as many of my friends do it and it is normally a lot of effort to traipse a big shop back from town. I spent over £40 :O way more than usual, but I bought meat in bulk and finally invested in some freezer bags, as I kept forgetting to buy them. This means I can separate my food before freezing it, as otherwise I have to defrost it all in one go which kind of defeats the object. I have bought bottles of water [tap water here is revolting!], so that would be a nightmare to carry back from town. Not to mention the fifteen cans of coke I bought for £4 [the other day, I bought six cans from Tesco Express and it cost £2.5o – they are extortionate!
I hope the delivery comes before 2pm, as I would quite like to go into town with Sengagh to buy a yoga mat and jogging bottoms – bought our £40 sports cards weeks ago and haven’t used them yet! So we really ought to soon…
I’m going into Colchester with Sophie and Cathy on Saturday, to go Christmas shopping - SO EXCITED!!!
xx
