EXPO!!!!!

Oh my gosh expo was amazing! As I said before, I went as Misa Amane and Chris went as Light Yagami :) I bought ribbon because my friend couldn’t find the ribbon that goes with the corset, but I managed to get some. I didn’t realise until I laced the corset that I colour co-ordinated with Chris, which was awesome :)

Here are our outfits hung up before the day
I was actually really happy when I got there because I was worried that  people wouldn’t know who I was cosplaying as due to the lack of fringe, but within the first 5 minutes of walking into the Excel, random people were greeting me. Everyone was so friendly! I went to the toilets and a boy came up to me and said “MISA!!” it was so surreal!
A lot of people called Chris “L” which was irritating as he is a completely different character, who wears a tee-shirt, jeans and no shoes! I think it’s because people haven’t paid much attention and “L” sounds quite similar to “Light”. Oh well…

When we were queuing up, Chris and I tried to get everyone to do the Timewarp but I don't think we tried hard enough as it just ended up with 4 of us doing it :)

We spent a lot of time in the Yu-gi-oh section because Chris is really into it and really good and I'm trying to learn how to play too [he's making me a deck so I can learn properly ;)] it was really good because I could try and pick up on things he was doing (like "synchro"...yeah I'm learning terminology too!). Also I met his yu-gi-oh friends who he's always talking about, so I really liked that :)


I will definitely go again, and most definitely cosplay again - I’m an anime convert now ;)

P.s. I bought Pacman energy drink – I don’t even like energy drink but this looked (and tasted) brilliant!

Outfit? Check √ :)

I'm writing this in my college library, because I'm so cool ;)

So yesterday I realised that I was yet to get myself an outfit for expo which is just 3 days away :O
Not being one to fork out a lot of money on something which I might not wear very often I had a word with my friends :) Luckily I know such a variety of people that I was sure someone would have something I could borrow, I was not mistaken.
I found out that one of my friends is also going to expo. She was going to go as a pirate but it might be too hot so I'm not sure what she's going to wear now. Anyway she has kindly lent me her corset and a short tartan-y skirk. I wasn't sure if I was going to wear stockings or not but I figured  they might keep slipping down (not walking around East Ham at 5/6am in suspenders. Not happening lol!). So I thought I would treat myself. I bought a pair of tights for £12 which look like stockings but they aren't as revealing so I won't feel too bad. I mean I know lots of people do dress skimpily at expo but I'm not an exhibitionist lol :) Anyway, I was quite glad, because I went to this little shop in town called Pairs and found out that my friend works there. I looked and couldn't find what I wanted, and she couldn't find some either. So she asked her manager and she said that a box had just arrived, which was really awesome :) So for the first time in my life I was the first to buy something from a shop (that sounds wierd but I think you get what I mean).
The tights are awesome; they don't look quite as stocking-like on me as they do on the packet but I am much shorter so they don't stretch out as much. They are still good though, and they feel so soft!
Anyway, I have an outfit now. Not sure of what shoes I will wear but I have a pair which I wear for college quite often, with a heel and they have a zip down the back- I actually love them lol :)
I'm not sure how "Misa Amane" my 'costume' is but it's certainly different to what I normally wear so therefore I consider it a costume :D

P.s. I started watching Death note on Saturday...I'm on episode 20 now. It's so compelling!!

Expo

So practically one week before expo, I have been invited to go to it with my boyfriend and his friends. I have never been before, but have lots of friends who have been going to expo for years. For those of you who don't know, its defined as "multi-genre fan convention". Basically there's gaming, sci-fi and comics (manga etc). If I'm honest, I'm a bit of a manga virgin ;) and know very little about it which I thought might be an issue when dressing up. Most people dress up, you see (cosplay, I think it's called), so I figured I would too because I love dressing up. Chris is going as Kira from death note, so I am going to go as Misa Amane. 

The thing with Japanese anime/manga girls is that they all seem a little, how shall I put it, revealing. Well not revealing as such but suggestive...maybe...

I'm not too fussed about dressing like that but bearing in mind I will either probably have to get dressed at home (yeah...because my parents would love that outfit...not) and then get public transport to the Excel centre in London, or get changed there and carry my clothes round with me all day (also not happening!) I am planning on toning it down a little. I have a friend who might be able to lend me some clothes so it should be okay :)

The one thing which is a shame is that I cant afford a wig and am not planning on getting my hair cut just for expo, so I will have to do without the fringe. It's a pity because it seems to be the one constant in all of her pictures. Never mind. 

It should be good fun though :)
