I enjoyed the Olympic closing ceremony a lot more than expected. A lot of work had obviously gone into the organisation and it was clear to see why it all cost so much.
I did have some favourite parts for example Stomp and Spellbound. Spellbound was utterly incredible, and I can see why they won Britain’s got Talent! I was also pleasantly surprised by One Direction, especially as they’re only youngsters and have become famous so quickly!
One thing I did pick up on was that I am fairly sure they referred to Prince Harry and ‘Henry’ - a little embarrassing!
I loved the beautiful floor of Union Flag. My grandfather was a bit pedantic and said it couldn’t be the flag as the colours weren’t exactly right; although this is coming from the same man who couldn’t decide whether the country had made us proud, or whether the Royal Guard Troupe Band playing to Madness was an insult (let’s face it, it’s probably the most fun that they have had since getting their job!)
The John Lennon tribute definitely drew some tears. They had deaf children signing the whole of ‘Imagine’ whilst the video of Lennon singing played on huge screens.
Another person who proved themselves was Russell Brand. He sang a song from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as well as ‘I am the Walrus’ by The Beatles. I had never seen him do anything worth watching before so I really found this impressive.
