Ideal Home Show

I was lucky enough to win a pair of tickets to the Ideal Home Show and decided that, as it would be finishing a couple of days after I got back for the Easter holidays, it would be nice if Chris and I went together. The last time I had been to the show was when I was still in a pushchair so that puts it into perspective a bit!
The front of the building looked incredible, as there was fake grass and trees and a huge backdrop to make the building look like a mansion! When we first got off of the train, we didn’t realise that it was a backdrop because it was so realistic.I didn't take this picture!
In the entrance of the building, there were plants to make it look a bit like a patio area. It was strangely beautiful bearing in mind where we actually were!
As anticipated, inside,  there were hundreds of stalls with the type of product that you didn’t know you wanted or needed especially at the prices. It was good to get an idea of websites though, as each company had a website so if you saw something you liked but weren’t 100% sure whether or not to buy it, you could jot down the website and check it out later from home!
One thing I fell in love with was a blender by a company called ‘vitamix’.
It was incredible as it could not only blend, but also made soups and ice cream and even coffee! Apparently it was to do with the amount of friction it uses, so instead of wasting the heat energy built up from the friction, it used it to do all sorts of funky stuff! It was extremely expensive for a student (or anybody really!) but I think it is definitely something I would consider to save up andVitamix Pro Series 500 Blender, 1710 - Brushed Stainless Steel (Google Affiliate Ad)purchase when I have a proper house and job!
There were lots of other interesting things, including the ‘home of the future’ display. This was the bit I most looked forward to and enjoyed, as it was about the way in which technology could be used in the future. This year they seemed to be really pushing Virgin Media TEVO, which does look pretty good actually although I have heard mixed reviews from people who actually have it. It does look a hell of a lot better than SKY though :)
After we had seen pretty much everything we wanted to see at the Ideal Home Show, we decided to go to the science museum. I am not really one for science, if I’m completely honest, and especially after a busy day I wasn’t in the mood to learn…so we went to ‘Launch Pad’ which is the fun area for children (and adults – it says so on the entrance ;) ) The recommended time to allow according to the website is 60 minutes but I am sure that we spent way longer than that there! There were lots of mind boggling activities like having to build a bridge out of bricks, which fitted a toy boat underneath…

and having to create a working circuit for various situations. I think this one is for a burglar alarm – note the pressure pad which would set it off:

I really enjoyed our day out, and I think we may even go back to the science museum to look at the more science-y bits during the summer holidays…although I wouldn’t say no to going back to the Launchpad! ;)
