Welcome to the '50s

As I was at home today, and both of my parents were off work (Bank holiday), we decided to take a little trip to London. We had seen a vintage fair advertised in various London reads so headed off to Old Spitalfields Market to check it out. Apparently, Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair is on the first day of the month, every month, and I will definitely go back another time!
Being the cynic I am, I have always considered so called 'vintage' as things you would raid from your grandmother's wardrobe, and would eventually end up at a charity shop because nobody wants it anymore. To some extent, some of the products for sale did support my criticism but many of them did, in fact, prove me wrong! The funny thing about vintage styles nowadays is that they are coming back in as generic fashion (in many ways, I think it may be argued that there is no specific fashion in 2013 at the moment, as it is just influenced by all previous styles from the past 30+ years). Against my preconceptions, most things were actually quite reasonably priced due to the fact that much of it is now mass produced.
I bought a lovely green dress, which I saw for varying prices on lots of different stalls. I managed to get it for £9 instead of £10-15 as the poor stall owner seemed to be desperate to make business (there weren't many people around because it was so cold!).
There were a few 50s style bands playing, to give the market a bit more of a vintage feel, which was a really nice atmosphere.
